Medicare Subsidy under a Chronic Disease Management Plan
If your child’s difficulties are considered to be ‘chronic’, i.e. ongoing, your GP may provide you with a Chronic Disease Management Plan. This entitles your child to 5 therapy sessions that are partly subsidised by Medicare. In many instances these sessions can be bulk-billed by us, meaning there is no out of pocket cost to you. This will enable you to access services immediately, and for us to put a plan in place for your child’s assessment and treatment, and to help with access to other areas of support and/or funding if appropriate (e.g. Community Health, NDIS).
Health Fund Rebates
Rebates for speech pathology services may be available through your private health fund (PHF), depending on your fund and level of coverage. We highly recommend that you determine your eligibility for rebates with your health fund provider prior to commencing services.
Please note that you cannot claim a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate for the same service. Clients are also not permitted to claim a private health insurance rebate for a session that has NDIS funding. Basic information on rebates and waiting periods for some private health funds can be accessed using the links below.
NDIS
We work with many clients who receive funding under NDIS Plans, however the Plan needs to be either self-managed, or plan-managed. Please discuss NDIS funding options with us during your initial consultation.
HICAPS
We have HICAPS facilities available for easy Medicare and Health Fund claims, credit card payments, and Medicare bulk-billing.
